L2 TALK

sociality, interaction, identity

My research focuses on naturally occurring conversation in Japanese and English, including bilingual interaction between fluent speakers and second language talk among language learners.

I teach English in the School of Languages and Communication and Conversation Analysis in the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies at Kobe University.

If you are thinking about writing a Masters or Doctoral degree in English while living in Japan, feel free to contact me. I'm interested in supervising students who want to use Pragmatics or Conversation Analysis to investigate interactional competence and social practices in second language settings.

Supervising:

MA and PhD dissertations that investigate second language interaction
