
Call for Proposals
The Next-Turn Forum is a supportive academic venue for graduate students working in Conversation Analysis for Second Language Acquisition (CA-SLA) to present work in progress and receive detailed, constructive feedback from an engaged scholarly audience.
Each presentation will consist of:

20 minutes for presentation of ongoing research
-
30 minutes for collaborative discussion, feedback, and questions
This extended discussion format is designed to foster careful engagement with developing analyses, datasets, methodological questions, and theoretical directions, while creating a collegial space for scholarly dialogue and mentorship.
We warmly invite Master’s and doctoral students at any stage of their research to submit proposals related to CA-SLA, including but not limited to:

Interactional practices in second language use or learning

Classroom interaction and pedagogy

Embodiment, multimodality, and participation

Repair, sequence organization, and intersubjectivity
-
Methodological or analytic reflections on CA-SLA research
Submission Guidelines
All presenters must be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of the forum. Please submit:

A title (up to ten words)

An abstract (up to 300 words)

Any transcript excerpts and references will not be included in this word count

Your name, institutional affiliation, and degree program

A brief indication of your research stage (e.g., early analysis, data collection, dissertation writing)
Event Format

The forum will be conducted fully face-to-face.

The event emphasizes a friendly, developmental atmosphere centered on dialogue rather than evaluation.

Presentations and discussion should be primarily in English.

We welcome attendance from non-presenting participants, including experienced CA researchers and those who are interested in learning more about the CA-SLA approach. Please fill out the online registration form by 1 July 2026.
