Preparing for your
Poster Presentation
This year we had a record number of submissions, so in order to maintain the symposium's commitment to a single-room event but still accommodate the growing number of participants, we have decided to hold one of the blocks as a poster session. This will give presenters more opportunities to engage with the audience at a deeper level and make our already lively event even more interactive.

What is a poster presentation?
A poster presentation is a method of communicating research findings by displaying key information visually on a poster, allowing viewers to read and interact with the research at their own pace. It is usually accompanied by a brief verbal explanation from the presenter to discuss the details further.
It should be more like a conversation than a one-way presentation. Think of it as an opportunity to gain feedback on your work, rather than just telling others about it.
Designing posters for a CA audience
Posters usually have the following elements.
-
Simple layout:
-
The information is presented through text, charts, and images on a poster, making it easy to scan and understand quickly.

-
Interactive format:
Unlike a traditional oral presentation, viewers can approach the poster at their leisure, ask questions directly to the presenter, and engage in discussion.

-
Concise information:
Due to the limited space on a poster, the presentation should focus on key findings, methods, and conclusions, often using bullet points and clear visuals.

You will need to adapt this to CA event. Consider:
-
incorporating transcripts that can be seen from a distance
-
using an iPad or laptop to show your video to a small audience
-
bringing headphones so the audience can hear the data in a loud room
